Plan a major update
Major updates must be ingested into Golden Gate as a new project, independent of the previous version of the title so that it does not disrupt existing courses. When ingesting and deploying a major update to production, consider the following:
- It’s highly recommended that major updates be done BETWEEN SEMESTERS.
- The previous version needs to be removed after the major update is deployed.
Because the newer, live production version is available for purchase by students, removing the previous version avoids confusion. To remove the previous version: Use Grid Tools. For instructions, either refer to the Grid Tools documentation or contact the DCPS.
- For Revel, instructors will need to create a new course in the updated title.
- Any notes or other Revel course information in the previous title do NOT carry over into the major update. Instructors should be notified of the newly available title with the caveats for using it.
- Each major content update must be done with a new UUIID as the product ID and new GRID Tools set up.
- (Don’t try to duplicate product ID’s for major content updates.)
